Anyone here actually play soccer? socially? once? not? Just a thought, only once you play a game can you understand the beauty of it, and then fully appreciate it.

As for the players who dive and cry, they should be immediately shot and their bodies hung outside the stadiums as a warning against the black mark of the game

Wow that article has me not knowing how to feel, from the sweeping generalizations about plebes, to my full agreement on the game. For me soccer has always been a periphery sport, I only recently started watching it because I was tired of not being able to engage in other sports conversations. Rugby always comes first but amongst most of the circles I roll in soccer would be the only sport to come up. So yeah it is for the average man. ( No Disrespect to anyone, this is fully subjective.) It just doesn’t have that thing for me, I can’t understand a sport where the beauty of it lies in grown men getting payed to cry on T.V, with no discipline and and doing better diving than Ian Thorpe And Ryk Neethling combined. I mean yeah the sport itself has some cool shit but it’s mostly the players who ruin for me. The whole luck thing? Well I guess I think that shit’s cool cause it’s kinda like watching the Wallabies play the game aint over till the ref blows his whistle.

Maybe it’s just about having an escape. The lottery gives the poor hope and takes them away to fantasize about what they’d going to do with the money once they get it, instead of focusing on their current state of misery. So for those 90 minutes the drama that unfolds on the pitch is much like watching a soap opera for them. Just maybe, I don’t know.
