Mack the Night
by Mack Magagane / 21.05.2013Mack Magagane was born in Soweto in 1990 and joined the Market Photo Workshop back in 2009, where he received the Tierney Fellowship. He caught everyone’s attention with his first solo exhibition …in this city and followed it up exhibiting a series on teen suicides, called I’ll Be Gone Soon, in Paris. His project Light Hours is also worth a look. He cites Mikhael Subotzky as a major influence and mentor. Mack’s theatrical style has made last Friday night at the Puma Social Club look like a film noir. But with fewer cigars. With music from DJ Invizable, DJ Weasel and Yesterday’s Pupil, here’s Mack Magagane’s personal take on the PSC.
