Prince the dance legend28.02.2014
Fly On The Wall is hosting a fundraising jol at Side Street Studios tonight (28 Feb) for South African street dance legend Prince Mofokeng, who was diagnosed with an aggressive blood cancer earlier this year. Doors open at 7pm, with the screening starting at 8pm. R50 gets you in, with all funds going to Prince’s cancer treatment.
Prince was the star of Fly On The Wall’s award-winning docy The African Cypher, which will be screened outdoors on Friday at Side Street Studios. There’ll be cheap dop, shisa nyama and live music from DJ Kimon and others, as well as an art auction from South African artists like Faith47, Ree Treweek, Sean Metelerkamp, Black Koki, Lorraine Loots, Chris Auret, Ello, Sydelle Willow Smith, Suicide Monkey, Bryan Little, Jean Michael Metelerkamp, Dane Dodds and Tyler Murphy.
“Prince is a South African street dance legend,” says Fly On The Wall’s Filipa Domingues. His skills, attitude and life-story have inspired many people around the world. We are trying to raise funds to help him through this very difficult time.”
Bryan Little has made a short film about Prince, edited together from footage from his documentary The African Cypher and their trip to the Congo for the Etonnant Voyageurs festival. Check it out below:
