Tidal Waves was never destined to be just another roots reggae band. That is the backbone for their music, and the fusion created over and above that is intentional to emphasise their message to the people of South Africa – and make it more accessible to them. I don’t think it’s a bid for survival in the industry as much as it is a vehicle for their message “Original Music for Original People” which is their mission. This is what makes Tidal Waves unique – not like any other “reggae” band out there. I think it’s a good thing.

“I’m seriously worried about the sincerity of some local music” is something that could do with some further explanation and perhaps a more in-depth opinion piece. Maybe join forces with Mungo on that one.
