Would like to add that the film portrays a lobotomy as a procedure performed by horrible people in horrible circumstances. I'm not denying it is an unspeakable procedure, but in the 50's in America is was sold like ice cream on the streets. One particular doctor drove around in a van with a loud speaker selling lobotomies and aimed his marketing at bored house wives. You could be in and out of his van within an hour and be completely content with the rest of your life. Finally saw this movie and agree heavily with the comments above.
