Kif or Kak?

by Nathan Zeno / 24.07.2009

KIF.

I too have no idea what this is or who made it. I found it when I dropped a few coins while fumbling for change for a taxi, standing on Berea (or whatever it’s called now) Rd. It’s sun weathered and scuffed, so it’s been there a while. I could speculate endlessly about its origins but I will probably never know where it came from. So it’s kinda like Stonehenge. But smaller.

  1. Captain Asthma says:

It was a project by Dutch designer Ruben Abels. He was in Durban as part of CASCOLAND – a public art project.

I think he intended them to be icons pointing out useful things in the area – hospitals, taxis etc.

You can find out more about Cascoland at: http://www.cascoland.com

It looks like a camel on rollerskates deciding which way to go.
