I don’t think everything in life should be about problem solving in the first place. Somehow I think there is an underlined problem with your self image here. “Design is a bit cool so it makes me feel a bit uncool” Design is playing a major role, it creates identity. Without design you won’t feel part of a country, team or group. Without design you would not know where to go. Without design you would not be able to read or have written language. Without design you would wear nothing but a goat skin. Without design you would live in a cave. etc etc. what a stupid piece…

No, design itself won’t save the world, but at least the majority of people that is trying to, are designers and they have the ability to create images that tend to stick in the minds of the average joe who has enough money, but not sure what to do with it. True story, artists are generally not the richest creatures, but they can make others see who have the resources to do so.
