American Geography

KAK. So KAK it’s quite KIF. Thanks to WGN news in Chicago all those stereotypes of Americans and their limited understanding of geography begin to hold water. For the record, we at Mahala would like to point out that South America and Africa are two distinct continents separated by half the planet, even if they are both largely inhabited by brown-skinned people. But as someone in Texas once said, “Either place, you’ll probably have monkeys running around your back yard and people sound funny when they talk.” Yeehaw!

This is funny & sad all at the same time. Do you have a link to the clip, I’d love to see what they had to say.

JM makes some great points! But the main thing is this: we aedlary have all the clean energy know-how that we need to stop burning coal very quickly. Only 100 miles by 100 miles of low-tech Solar Thermal Power mirrors would supply all US electric grid needs. Same for China, India, Europe (via the Sahara). Add in all that Solar PV and Wind and we are there in 5 years. Whats blocking the solution? Its that Wall Street/Corporate system that can’t handle the transition. How do we break through? Lets make the demand to stop burning coal the next big demand for the Occupy Wall Street movement. You can’t occupy Wall Street when its under water from sea level rise. If we burn that coal we melt the South Pole by 2100!
