Special Hip Hop Show featuring Jean Grae & Pharaohe Monch
iBuyambo Music and Art Exhibition Centre has secured the performance of Top American Hip Hop Artists: *Jean Grae and Pharoahe Monche*
Jean and Pharoahe are down in Cape Town for the 13th Annual Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
The local hip hop community is buzzing with excitement that two of their favourites hip hop artists will be performing a special show for those who cannot afford to attend the main festival.
*Jean Grae* is originally from Cape Town, but has been living and performing in the USA for many years, she is also the daughter of legendary South African jazz pianist: Abdullah Ibrahim. Jean Grae (known as What What before) has released seven albums and has appeared on various albums and compilations.
*Pharoahe Monch* has been around for a while, during the 1990’s he was part a group called Organised Konfusion and became solo during 1997, releasing 3 full albums to date and know for his out-spoken lyrical content.
The special concert will be held at iBuyambo Music & Art Exhibition Centre which has been buzzing over the past weeks with book and cd launches, poetry readings, jazz, world and acoustic music productions, to hip hop open mic sessions. Various artists such as Steve Newman, Errol Dyers, Tina Schouw, Nobhule ketelo, Dizu Plaatjies to Blaqpearl have already performed at iBuyambo since opening in December 2011.
