To the collective groan of South Africa’s Congolese community, the DRC were ejected from the African Nations Cup last night, drawing 1-1 with Mali in Port Elizabeth. But if you google Mali + DRC this morning, the search returns a host of stories about how long simmering conflicts in those countries threaten to overshadow the upcoming AU summit. Same old, same old for Africa. Where’s Phillip? What football? Back here in Mzansi the Congolese community set up their own fan park at Kin Malebo in Yeoville, Jozi to support The ‘Leopards’ with braai’d fish, loud ndule music and plenty beers.
