STR CRD Fridayby Roger Young / 09.09.2011
This week in STR CRD news.
King Adz, author of Street Knowledge is joining STR CRD’s line up of international and local sneakerfreaks and street knowledge guru’s at this years STR CRD in Jozi on Heritage Weekend.
To show you what’s up, he’s cut a 22-minute film journey through 15 years of his travels through global street culture, exclusively for STR CRD, featuring cameos from Irvine Welsh, Martha Cooper, Dot Da Genius (Kid Cudi producer), IC3 and Michel van Rijn. He’ll be showing the film, holding a Q+A and schilling some of his books on the 23rd.
This week on the blogs, apart from all the stuff we stole for Random Shits, there was a bit of a blog beef between PE’s Opinion Feeder and CT’s Bitches Must Know about a picture of some fake sneakers PE posted. It started on twitter and ended up in those two posts. It raised some serious questions about fake kicks and the aspirational nature of sneaker culture in general. Meanwhile JHB’s Bloody Sweaty Clique continued to blog about the post Smarteez scene bopping in da clubs and Durban’s StreetSoleAvenue asked “What is Street Culture anyway?”
14 days to go to the event and 21 days till we hand over the cash prize to the blogging team. Things be getting interesting.
