Sara and Greg your comments are straight up mean. It’s a series about what people get up to on Sundays! Aldridge has basically captured the frikken essence of Sunday here. You guys both need to go and rinse your heads under some cold water and hope some of that apathetic cynicism you’re peddling gets washed down the drain too…
Andy, your surfer sentimentality does not make for good photo selections. They ooze apathy. Nostalgia does not make for good entertainment, give your readers some respect.
Please check the other photos in the series. Search Last Sunday in the search bar and then come back to me. It’s all part of a series. This is how it was at Cintsa 2 Sundays ago. That’s what we aimed to capture. What were you expecting?
Yo! Sara, I choose the photographers, they pitch ideas and I choose which to go with. And I’m fat and hate the sea. So choose your target correctly before you aim your bigotry.
In your assessment these photo’s are flat. Have you never had a flat Sunday?
Ja, Ja, and 9 people thought they were Kif. That’s all by the by. You accuse photographs of being lazy when the intention of the photographs was to show a lazy Sunday. That’s what is baffling me. Criticize away, but make sense, please.
OK Sara… don’t mean to come across like that. It’s just that your comments weren’t that constructive. Saying the photos are lame and asking Nick if he was stoned is not particularly constructive. I’ll concede that they’re not the world’s most exciting pics. But they capture what that sunday was about perfectly. And Nick has got a great eye. And the whole shoot has a kif, laidback eastern cape sunday vibe about them.
If you want to have a constructive debate let’s push beyond the two things you’ve said. Lame. Stoned. What now?
maybe not constructive critism but neither is ‘x band is shit’. can’t we all have the odd unsubstantiated opinion? or is ok to give it but not to get it?
i agree, lame photos. ‘cos i say so.
If you’re referring to the old “7th Son is Shit” story, you should read the whole thing. It starts with “they’re shit” and then explains why.
The point is, if you don’t want photos that you think are shit in the future tell us what is shit about them or we have nothing to go on.
I have plenty of unsubstantiated opinions, i just don’t expect anyone to use them for change.
Also saying photo’s are shit because the photographer might have been stoned is like saying Mbeki was a shit president because he might have been on crack.
you’re all lame cos you just don’t get cintsa. that’s exactly what’s it’s like. ALL. THE. TIME. you should go there, take away some of that self-righteousness when there’s absolutely nothing to hate on. because nothing happens. and that’s what’s so cool about it (highlight of the day? watching the blue blue sea wash in and out).
i like them, they are not great images in a formal sense but they serve an occasion rather than impose on it . made we wanna close my eyes, relax and hopefully let off a satisfying fart.
No, I don’t like this pictures at all, either. Because they look like they belong in a photo album, not published up for the public to see, and because they don’t show off any perceptivity, skill or ocular sixth sense on the part of the photographer.
There’s a difference between capturing a lazy Sunday properly, and capturing a lazy Sunday lazily. These snaps are definitely in the latter.
But, that said, shame, I do think everyone needs to be a little nicer on these boards. Fuck, I’ve never seen so much vitriol and hatred! If you don’t like something, don’t get ratty just ’cause we can’t see your face! Have the balls to give the sort of criticism you would face to face, right?
These photos are framed badly, the lighting is appalling and exposure times are clearly wrong for the most part. These are amateur shots and probably don’t belong on a forum where attention could be brought to them. If you want to display your holiday pics then use a photo sharing service, or even facebook, but don’t waste our time.
wow weird to see our little bit of paradise online…highly resent the ranga comment;)
the ranga in question
come back soon guys

sorry sorry… no one is supposed to get Nick’s in-jokes.

I actually like your Sunday series, but thought these photos were flat, why are you taking it so personally?
Yuss. That Sara is hectic. But I agree with her. In a nicer way.

notice that 6 other people also thought they were Kak,

Matt, are you saying that the natural light at Clintsa is appalling? Phone God, have a word, set him right, my bru.
