Cape Town has been set ablaze this week as over 300 artists and performers from around the country (and world) are taking to the streets for the Infecting The City public arts festival. The public sphere is a realm tightly controlled by rules and regulations; a place we often pass through on our journeys from A to B, but seldom engage with. Public art aims to shake up that sense of order, to throw paint on long faces, bring life to the streets and bring people together in the name of art and humanity. If you missed out or you’re not lucky enough to be in the mother city right now, here’s a peek at the week in pictures from renowned lens-lady, Sydelle Willow-Smith.
